Change is easy at The Tennessee Credit Union.

Use the simple online switch kit below to make your transition to an account at The Tennessee Credit Union a seamless one. This online kit includes everything you need to make your change as quick and easy as possible. Please feel free to visit one of our convenient branch locations if you would like assistance with moving your accounts, as our friendly staff will be happy to help you make the switch!  Follow these steps to make a seamless switch:

1. Open your new accounts with The Tennessee Credit Union

If you’re not already a member of The Tennessee Credit Union, fill out a membership application and return it to us along with your initial deposit of at least $25.  We also need a photocopy of a valid Driver's License to open your account.

If you’re already a member and you want to switch over your checking account to The Tennessee Credit Union, simply fill out an account change card indicating that you’d like to add the specified checking account to your membership. Don’t forget to specify if you would like a debit or ATM card. Then, either send it in or return it to your local branch.

Once your new accounts are set up, you will receive your new account numbers so that you can continue with the next step of switching to The Tennessee Credit Union!  We have also included a Smart Branch Sign Up form below so that you can add online access to your new accounts at no extra cost!

2. Redirect automatic transactions to your new TTCU account

This tedious task becomes uncomplicated when you use the Redirect Automatic Payment and Redirect Direct Deposit forms included in our handy online switch kit. Send a completed form to any business that makes automatic transactions on your account.   Feel free to ask us for help with any of the enclosed forms –we’re here to serve your needs! Use this checklist to keep track of companies you may need to contact for certain automated transactions:

Direct Deposit
  • Your employer’s human resources department
  • The company handling your retirement or pension payments
  • Social Security Administration
  • Dividend distributions

Automatic Withdrawal
  • Mortgage lender
  • Insurance companies
  • Utility companies
  • Health Club
  • Auto loan payments

3. Close your old accounts

You will need to contact your current financial institution and inform them that you are in the process of switching to TTCU. We’ve made it easy by supplying a standard Close and Balance form to complete that action. Allow enough time for outstanding checks and automatic withdrawals to clear, and be sure to leave enough money in place to cover those transactions. This process may take several weeks. Once you’re sure that all business is finished with the account, send your institution the completed Close and Balance form provided in the kit below. You’ll also want to destroy any checks, debit/ATM cards, and deposit or withdrawal slips pertaining to the old account.
