Knox County Schools Career Day a Great Success!
TTCU participated at the successful and very well-attended Knox County Schools Career Day on February 16. The event attracted nearly 2,000 8th-12th grade students and their parents, representing 14 middle schools and 15 high schools in Knox County, Tennessee. The students visited with 90 employers and educational institutions to learn more about career options for their futures.
From chemistry to nursing. From banking & finance to police work. From colleges to carpentry. The 2017 Knox County Schools Career Day at the Knoxville Expo Center had it all. The annual event provides a showcase of career fields from across the region and allows students to have some hands on experiences in different career areas.
Whether a student had an interest in healthcare, construction, high tech jobs, architecture, finance, media, or something completely different, there was a little something for everyone at the Knox County Schools Career Day.
Students were encouraged to visit different industry booths and ask questions of the representatives. Jan B. and Lisa C. from The Tennessee Credit Union were on hand to offer credit union information to the inquisitive students. Questions were rewarded with Career Bucks that the kids could use to purchase a variety of donated prizes. It was exciting to see the enthusiasm in the crowd and we could tell there were some financiers in the making – visiting our booth, asking insightful questions and gathering their bucks!
At TTCU, we are proud to support community and educational activities like this one. Our purpose is to help strengthen the communities in which we live and work. We do this through our passion of helping children, teachers and local schools.
