TTCU Helps United Way of Sumner County “Stuff the Bus” for local students
Gallatin Branch helps United Way Stuff the Bus with an overflowing container of school supplies for needy Sumner County students. THANK YOU MEMBERS AND TTCU EMPLOYEES!
With the start of a new school year just days away, The Tennessee Credit Union’s Gallatin Branch (located at 716 Nashville Pike) and United Way of Sumner County are teaming up, along with other local businesses, to help make sure students have the basic materials they need on the first day of class.
The Annual ‘Stuff the Bus’ school supply drive runs from July 3-21.
Last year, our Gallatin Branch also collected a huge, overflowing box of supplies and we were able to repeat that performance this year!
According to United Way of Sumner County President/CEO Dana M. Given, “About 40 percent of Sumner County students are eligible for the Free-and-Reduced Lunch Program,” Given said. “That tells us that many families are not in a position to purchase all the things their children need to be successful at school. By providing students with basic supplies, we can help send them to school better prepared to succeed. ‘Stuff the Bus’ is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved and make a difference in our community, and we are very excited about working with our partners, like TTCU, to positively impact as many lives as we can.”
This year’s Stuff the Bus drive runs now through Friday, July 21. Needed supplies include:
• 1.5-inch 3-ring binders
• Plastic Pencil Boxes
• Soft Pencil Pouches
• Protractor & Compass sets
• Crayola marker sets (wide & fine)
• Handheld Pencil Sharpeners
• Pink erasers (block & cap types)
• Composition Books (wide rule)
• Glue Sticks
• Colored Pencil sets
• Plain poly pocket folders for 3-ring binders
