TTCU is a Proud Sponsor of Scholastic Art Competition
2016 marks the 25th year that Cheekwood and The Tennessee Credit Union have had the honor of presenting this competition and exhibition for Middle Tennessee‘s young emerging artists. Creative and imaginative works of art by students (grades 7-12) are on display at Cheekwood every February.
The Scholastic Art Competition and Exhibition is a program of the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. This competition held at Cheekwood is one of the oldest and most prestigious student art competitions in the country. The competition evaluates student artwork on the merits of originality, technical skill and emergence of a personal vision. Students submitted nearly 1,400 dynamic works of art for the competition.
Cheekwood and TTCU would like to acknowledge the many Middle Tennessee art instructors and teachers who strive daily to enrich their students’ lives through creativity. This event would not be possible without the devotion, support and determination of our educators and schools. TTCU is honored to be a benefactor of the program.
Background on the 2016 competition: Students in grades 7-12 submitted their exemplary visual artwork, newly created from January-December 2015. Students had to be residents of Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson, or Wilson counties. Students with an interest in participating worked through their school's art teachers/instructors; students who attended schools that were not participating could enter independently.
